AIMS AND MOTIVATIONS

Our vision is a Co-housing Co-op in Cloughjordan Ecovillage that is affordable, collectively owned and embraces a way of living that has a low impact on the environment, strengthens our personal and shared resilience and nurtures our own and our community’s well-being.

Cloughjordan Co-Housing was born from a need for smaller, more affordable housing with shared facilities in Cloughjordan Ecovillage, an award-winning sustainable community in the Irish rural town of Cloughjordan in Tipperary.

We are a small group of people – some of whom have invested in the Ecovillage and for various reasons have not been able to progress, and a number of others who wish to live here but cannot afford to buy a site and build. So together we are exploring cohousing as a communal way to create a housing solution for ourselves and others to live in the Cloughjordan Ecovillage.

AIMS AND MOTIVATIONS

Common Ground CoHousing is a pioneering housing initiative based in Bray, County Wicklow. With 35 adult members making up 25 households, we are a diverse group striving to create a sustainable, affordable and vibrant community.

Drawing inspiration from our mentors LILAC Leeds UK we aim to establish the first Mutual Home Ownership Society in Ireland, which will provide secure, affordable, and flexible housing for our members. It is our hope to progress CoHousing in Ireland and promote its practical, social, economic and environmental benefits.

We believe that our model of living is a genuine solution to both the housing and climate crises in Ireland.  Already we are documenting our journey with the aim to provide interested groups with a template that they can follow to emulate our achievements. We hope that our example will establish a new paradigm for housing, living and sustainability in the State.

Yes, we are looking to grow our group and create Belfast's first cohousing community. Email us or check the membership section of our website for more information.

AIMS AND MOTIVATIONS

Our aim is to create a permanently affordable housing project in Belfast, with 20 energy efficient homes in a mixed tenure development, where residents enjoy the privacy of their own homes, yet also have use of extensive common facilities such as open space, courtyards, a playground and a common house.

Our intention is to create a sustainable neighbourhood that is multi-generational and diverse; where residents actively cooperate in the planning, design and construction of the project and in maintaining its shared resources when up and running; and where residents have one goal in mind: to create and be part of a vibrant diverse community living in a safe, and mutually supportive environment.

AIMS AND MOTIVATIONS

Aisteach Co-operative Housing Society  is registered as an Industrial & Provident Society to provide housing and housing support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people through mutual aid based on the co-operative principles.

Aisteach want to see a world where queer communities are formed, nurtured and sustained in an equitable, safe and supportive environment.

Housing in Ireland, socially and culturally is based on a heteronormative conception of home, which excludes households that don’t conform to this norm. Aisteach aims to develop a model that will deliver a small cooperative project to address the housing needs of the queer community, deliver an alternative to normative models of housing and provide an example for other communities by sharing our learning.

As an Irish queer housing co-operative, we plan to seek out and secure suitable, affordable accommodation in Dublin to house LGBTQ community members from all walks of life. We aim to create a sustainable, non-profit, intergenerational housing cooperative for the queer community in Dublin city.

AIMS AND MOTIVATIONS

‘Hope and Homes’ is an initiative of Galway City Partnership that aims to engage people in the process of building their own homes. People will be involved in the construction of their own homes while sharing and learning crafts and skills that will be useful both now and into the future.

The involvement of communities and potential residents in the construction and design of their homes fosters community spirit which will outlast any short term benefit. “Hope and Homes” will focus on the security and well being that living in an active community offers.
